The inspiration for Heath Ledger’s Joker
In 1979, singer Tom Waits appeared on The Don Lane Show in Australia. As you will soon be able to see (the action starts at 1:30), his appearance was the basis for Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight.
